Hazmat Storage Buildings and Safety Cabinets
A hazmat storage building gives drums of fuel, oil and chemicals a covered, secure space outdoors, usually with spill containment built into the floor. This collection includes a Securall welded steel building for four drums and a Securall 45 gallon flammable safety cabinet with a self-closing sliding door. Facilities, plants, utilities and shops use them to keep hazardous liquids contained and away from people and buildings.
How to choose
- Capacity: count the drums you store now and leave room for growth.
- Fire rating and setbacks: some sites need a fire-rated building or a set distance from other structures. Ask your fire marshal and insurer before you order.
- Ventilation: check whether the liquids you store call for vents or powered ventilation.
- Building or cabinet: safety cabinets hold smaller containers indoors near the work. Buildings handle drums outdoors.
Common questions
What does a flammable safety cabinet do?
It stores flammable liquids indoors in a steel cabinet with self-closing doors, built to slow the heat reaching the contents in a fire. Check its stated compliance, such as OSHA, NFPA or FM, against your requirements.
Do drums inside a building need a spill pallet?
A building with a built-in sump usually covers that. For drums stored elsewhere, see spill pallets and IBC containment or the full spill containment range.
